A Day on a Food Hero Lancashire Tour
The tours are run in friendly collaboration with the award winning Ribble Valley Food Trail, Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, local councils, accommodation providers, local chefs and their award winning eating establishments.
By embarking on an organised ‘tour’ you will meet with all types of producers from beef, lamb and pork farmers to perhaps trout, honey, beer or cider! You will have a much more in depth experience with each producer than you would visiting casually.
There will also be:
- product tastings
- hands on activities
- a little history brief of the area
- refreshments throughout the day
- sights of interest will be pointed out as we go round, perhaps for you to visit another time
- opportunities to purchase local Lancashire produce
- all of the above is straddled by a beautiful bespoke lunch with wine at one of our local Lancashire Highest Quality Assured Taste Awarded eating establishments, be this a quaint Inn or a cosy pub!
Your day will unfold by parking up in our yard and coming inside for a tasty start in my home situated in the Hodder Valley. First things first - that huge Lancashire welcome and a 'brew'!! Take in the stunning views across the Bowland Fells, with a local bacon or sausage ‘butty’ and cup of locally roasted coffee or perhaps ‘Lancashire Tea’!
Climb on board your luxury transport for the day at 9.30am. You will meet several local artisan food and drink producers during the morning. Meet those who make products such as Ramshackle Cheese made famous by the BBC’s Countryfile programme, or the Lonk Lamb farmers who made it to the Great British Menu final with Nigel Haworth - and won!
Watch them craft their produce or tend their flocks, and learn the methods and skills involved to ensure a really tasty quality product. Lunch will take the form of three sumptuous course's where you will dine on a menu based on the foods you will see that day and wine’s from local vintners.
After lunch we will visit a few more producers before finally returning to my home to either have a further chat and a coffee (and a bun!) or go back to unwind in the comfort of your local accommodation.
No two tours will be the same with group sizes are between 6 and 8, every day will be filled with tastings and new experiences.
